The village of Iana is located in the region of the Bulgarian capital – Sofia (only 8 km) and 4 km away from the own of Buhovo. The village of Iana belongs to Kremikovtsi region, Sofia. The Kremikovtsi region is one of the 24 regions belonging to Sofia city. It was founded in 1978. The region is located in the upper northeastern part of the capital. On the west it borders with the regions ‘Poduene’ and ‘Novi Iskar’, on the east – with the ‘Elinpelinskata’ and ‘Yablanskata’ municipalities, on the north – with the Murgash part of Stara Planina Mountain, on the south – with the regions ‘Slatina’, ‘Iskar’, ‘Panicharevo’. The region is disposed on 213 sq. km., which is 18.3 % of the territory of Sofia region and comprises 10 settlements: - the quarters – Vrajdebna, Chelopechene, Botunets, Kremikovtsi, Seslavtsi; - the villages – Gorni Bogrov, Dolni Bogrov, Iana and Jelyava; - the town of Buhovo. The population of the region is 23600 people. The biggest settlement in the region is the Botunets quarter and the smallest – the village of Jelyava.
