The village of Sopitsa are located in the south-western part of Bulgaria, 16 km from Pernik and 45 km from the Bulgarian capital city of Sofia.
The village of Sopitsa is located in Breznik Municipality, in Pernik region.
The town of Breznik and Breznik Municipality are located in Breznik Hollow, 750 meters altitude.

The Pernik region is situated in the South-western part of Bulgaria, 30 km far from Sofia at the main cross-road Sofia-Thessalonoki-Skopje. It occupies an area of 2390.5 sq km, representing 2.1% from the country's territory.
It is known from the history that in the past Pernik was an storm-proof fortress, residence of the famous voivode (leader) Krakra, who thousands of year ago, the only one left unconquered by the Byzanyine emperor Vassilius the Second, called latter Bulgarian-killer. He obeyed at last the state of Samuil with unprecedented cruelty.
In administrative aspect the region has 171 populated settlements, including 6 towns and 164 villages, distributed in six territorial municipal administrations: Pernik, Radomir, Breznik, Zemen, Trun and Kovatchevtzy.
